Brand New Begining
So, I have been meaning to do this since the beginning of the year. My new years resolution was to start getting healthy and loose weight. Well… It’s a half a year later and I am finally realizing that I am the only one who can get this going. I can’t keep waiting around for ‘the right situation’ or ‘a good reason’. The situation is NOW and the reason is MY LIFE. I am 23 years old, 250lbs, and am definitely not a happy person. I am also quitting smoking, and I know that many people gain weight as they are trying to quit, so this will help me with that as well. Instead of actually concentrating on quitting, I’m concentrating on making healthy choices, which will in turn help me lose weight, and not think about not smoking. This all sounds good on paper, and I’m sure someone reading this is thinking “Good luck girl! I have been there and it’s easier said than done!” Well, thank you for reading, but I am going to keep being positive and believing in myself. I know thats really the only way that I’ll be able to do this. I am SO done being fat. I’m done being unhealthy. I love the outdoors and being active, but I find myself avoiding it because I lack the energy and motivation, and I know that is directly affected by my current health. SO, HERE I GO! I’m off! And I appreciate everyone’s support and encouragement along the way! I know I can do this, FINALLY! I know I can be an inspiration for my friends and family who may be struggling with their own health issues! I hope that I can help you as you help me! I am going to go get some sleep now. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of my life! I am so EXCITED!
Welcome to Buddyslim!
And I think you can do this girl! Weight loss has it’s hard moments but it has some great moments too like a healthier lifestyle, energy levels going up and some new found confidence from succeeding. I wish you all the best girl. Here’s to a new life for you!
Yey…you sound pumped!! I quit smoking around 10 months ago. I used the Alan Carr book and I highly recommend it. I started running soon after and found that helped to maintain. I have only just really started the weight loss part of the journey but I see no reason why you can’t do both at the same time as long as you give yourself a break (it will be hard), make clear goals and have lots of support. That’s what we’re here for!! Remember…quitting smoking is the single biggest favour you could ever do for your body. If you need to prioritize…put quitting first. Good luck!
Good for you! I quit smoking a little over a year ago and at the same time had a job change that was more sedentary and I did nothing to control my wieght, I gained like 20lbs. I’m glad you are trying to do both. Keep in mind you will want to eat in place of those cigg’s and there is nothing ending your meals so you will want to go back for seconds and maybe thirds. What I suggest is if you have to chew in place of smoking keep lots of gum and if that doesn’t do it there are “free” foods you can munch(cucumber slices, pickles and many others)try those or opt for a healthy snack. As far as meals go the only thing I can suggest is to finish your plate and leave the table and the room, go do something until the urge passes(don’t even clean up the kitchen until you feel strong enough to be able to resist picking at the food you’re putting away. Good luck to you, you can do this.
I’m here got for you so stay srong!
